LifeSize Conference Phone Offers VoIP Integration, Superior Audio Quality

Audio and video communications product manufacturer LifeSize recently introduced a new VoIP-enabled phone to the audio-conferencing market that the company claims provides twice the quality and fidelity of standard conference-room phones.
The LifeSize Phone   "The phone can actually pick up and transmit an audible whisper from up to five feet away from the phone," a company spokesperson recently told TMCnet in an e-mail correspondence.      The spokesperson also said that LifeSize Phone "offers groundbreaking technology that bests anything built into a Polycom (News - Alert) phone," a reference to the recent introduction of a Skype-enabled speakerphone produced by Polycom.   Blogger Rich Tehrani commented in a May 1 posting that, when it comes to the enterprise adoption of VoIP, the Skype (News - Alert)+Polycom phone is "a harbinger of great things to come."   But, although-as Tehrani notes in his blog entry-Polycom does hold sway over more than 90 percent of the speakerphone market, the company certainly isn't the first or last to think of offering VoIP integration in its products.   LifeSize Phone also offers VoIP integration (along with PSTN and video), and works with any standard SIP, H.323 IP PBX (News - Alert) or IP service provider, as well as standard analog phone lines, according to the company's website.   Let the competition begin!
