Have a purpose for the call and try to stick with that purpose.

2. Set up conference call guidelines for your participates before the call. This can be done in the email announcing the call that you send your participates. Also go over these guidelines again at the beginning of the conference ,within the first 5 minutes.

3. Be on time and start on time. The leader needs to call into the conference about 5 minutes early to welcome people in. If it is a nationwide call don't forget to give the time zone of the call.

4. Be positive and upbeat. Smile when your talking to your group. They will sense your excitement.

5. Eliminate all background noise on your end by getting in a quiet area.

6. Do not use cell phones or speaker phones.

7.The *6 command can be your best friend in a conference call. At the beginning of the conference call tell participates something like this. "If you have a pencil or pen write the *6 in the upper right hand corner of your paper. This is to be used to mute your background noise by pushing it and unmuting it by pushing it again." If you have background noise from a participate please ask them to use *6 command. Do not say their name as this may embarrass them or alienate them from the conference.

8. Your call will be more successful by having interaction. Ask one question at a time then pause for the answer. Ask your participate to announce their name before answering.

9. Wrap up your conference by asking anyone who would like to contribute to give a one sentence benefit. Be sure to keep the answer short to enable as many as possible  the opportunity to contribute.

10. Always end the conference a few minutes earlier than the scheduled time.
